How to migrate a WordPress site from one domain/site to another?

If you are trying to migrate your WordPress site to another site/domain, please follow the steps below

Requirements

  1. The source  WordPress website  with  cPanel and WordPress access
  2. The destination WordPress website with cPanel and WordPress access
  3. Duplicator Plugin 

 

STEP 1

1. Install the Duplicator plugin on your source WordPress website admin page.

2. Select duplicator > Select create package > insert a given package name or leave default,  > on the installer setup section, input a password > and check:Enable password protection click >build.

3. Allow Scanning to complete, Check: Yes. continue with the build process  >  Select Next , Allow the build process to get to  100%

4. Download the completed packages ( installer and the archive by selecting: one-click download)  to your local computer.

STEP 2

1. Login to your destination cpanel  account to upload the file downloaded earlier 

2. Go to your File Manager > public_html > select Upload and upload the build packages file you downloaded from STEP 1

3. Goto your mysql database > create a database and also a user, and add the newly created user to the newly created database

Create a database :  Goto mysql database > create database > input database name  > select create database

Create User : Goto mysql database > create user > input the username and password > select create user.

Add User to database : Goto mysql database >Add user to database > select user and database name and then click Add.

 

N/B: ENSURE YOU CHECK AND GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES

STEP 3

1. Open a new tab, type your destination-url/installer.php

2. Enter the password you created in STEP 1 .2 and click submit

3. Check the box: I have accepted all terms and notices

4. Insert the newly created database and password from STEP 2.3  and click Test Database, once it passes validation, click Next

5. On the next step, Click next if it is showing your destination URL and path

 

6. Once successful, click admin login, to login to the wordpress admin page, input username and password.

Finally, Ensure the installer files is cleaned up
